Sad news has returned to the country, 10 civilians in Nduga Regency, Papua Province, Pegunungan Tengah were attacked by a criminal group of Armed Terrorists.
Reportedly 9 out of 10 people died after getting attacked brutally. This was confirmed by the Papua Regional Police, through the Inspector General Police Mathius D. Fakhiri, S.I.K.
The attack on 10 civilians was carried out on July 16 2022 at 09.15 Eastern Indonesia Time in the village of Nogoloit.
Hearing the news, Steve Mara, a Papuan Young Leader, condemned the heinous acts carried out by the Armed Criminal Group against civilians.
“I condemn the killings carried out by the Armed Criminal Group in Nduga. This group calls themselves liberation soldiers who want independence. I emphasize here, that there is no freedom with bloodshed especially since the victims are innocent civilians”.
He continued, “This group could no longer be tolerated; the Pangdam XVII/Cendrawasih and the Papuan Regional Police Chief immediately gave chase and took firm action. No longer use a territorial approach to this group.”
“We, the Papuans, are known to be full of love and do not have a culture of killing people just like that. This group has stopped using the name Papuan people to kill civilians in Papua. The nature and the ancestors of the Papuan nation wept at this heinous act.”
“I also express my deepest condolences for the incident that claimed the victims. I hope that all the victims get the best place by God’s side.”
