Government have spent 2,8 trillions of rupiahs for Southwest Papua Regional Expenditure Budget (APBD). The budget was meant to support the new provincial government.

Director General of Regional Financial Development from Ministry of Home Affairs, Agus Fatoni, says that the Rp2,8 trillions funds was quite a huge quantity for a new province.

“That’s why, Governor, please optimize all State Civil Apparatus when they’re available. This could be a driving force for the government to be effective, and able to make its presence felt by the people,” said Agus when attending a regional heads meeting in Sorong, Wednesday (1/4).

Agus adds that the funds is fully transferred from central government. The funds is not part of grants from districts and cities in Southwest Papua Province.

Agus also appreciates the Southwest Papua Province who have already made their move in 2023.

Although they are the last new provinces in Papua, they have already did a meeting with mayors and regents at the beginning of the year.
