Six people from Maluku have been identified as suspect in the case of firearms smuggling to Papua. It is reported that they soon will be trialed in the court. The six have the initials of MP, DS, PC, PS, NT, and D.

The investigators from General Criminal Investigation Directorate of Maluku Police have handed over the six suspect to the judges of Maluku High Court.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation, Commissioner Andri Iskandar, says the six suspect have been handed over along with the evidence confiscated from the six on Tuesday (1/3).

“The six suspect of guns and ammo smuggler have been handed over to the court,” says Andri when interviewed by Kompas media crew through phone (1/4).

Andri says that the handed over of suspect and the evidence were carried out after the police have completed their investigation.

The evidence that the police handed over includes hundreds of gun ammunitions and two rifles. Police have also considered their job is done with the case, the rest will be handled in the court.

“Our handling on this case is over and it will be the authority of the prosecutor in handling the rest of the case,” he said.

It was reported that Indonesian Military Forces and Indonesian Police had arrested five people from Central Maluku due to the allegations of smuggling guns and ammunitions.

From the five suspect, MP and DS were arrested by Pattimura XVI intelligence personnel at Yos Sudarso Port, Ambon, on Monday (10/3).

The two were arrested along with the two rifles and 371various ammunitions and three gun magazines.

Then the other three, PC, PS, and NT, were arrested in different locations. PC and PS were arrested in Waipia Village, Central Maluku on Friday (10/7) and Saturday (10/8) respectively.

While NT was arrested in Passo Village, Ambon, on Wednesday Night, and later on D was arrested in Saparua, Tuesday (10/18).

Investigators then revealed that the two rifles and its ammunitions were ordered by a person from Maluku who’s in Nabire, Papua.
