Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of Jayapura stated that they predicted another earthquake will hit Jayapura in next few days.
Coordinator of Jayapura BMKG, Danang Pamuji, on Wednesday, says that there may be another earthquake in the next few days.
“Seeing the frequent earthquake recently, there are potential that another earthquake may happen in the near future,” says Danang.
He then continued that until 19:30 Wednesday, there are 303 aftershocks around Jayapura. But he ensured the community not to panic, but appealed to be careful and keep up with the news related to the disaster issued by BMKG.
Head of Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Jayapura, Asep Khalid, says that his party have deployed a team to list all damages caused by the earthquake that happened since last Monday (1/2).
The listings is in cooperation with Papua BPBD and related institutions knowing there are still many of those who have not reported their damages to the institutions due to the state civil servants who not working yet until Wednesday (1/4).
