The Vice Minister of Home Affairs, John Wempi Wetipo, wears the traditional clothes from Lampung when leading the Ceremony of 77th Indonesian Independence Day at the Ministry of Home Affairs. He wore that traditional clothes to show that eastern people of Indonesia could also blend with the other cultures of Indonesia.

“Why do I wear the traditional clothes of Lampu? Because of this is to show that an eastern people of Indonesia could also blend in with others,” said Wempi after the ceremony.

He also hoped that by showcasing the traditional clothes of Lampung, it could made the people of Lampung proud with their culture. He continued that Indonesia has many amazing various cultures. “I am proud that I also can wear the traditional clothes of Lampung,” said Wempi.

On the other hand, Wempi conveyed that all officials in the Ministry of Home Affairs to be more spirited in developing the state. He said that there should be no more debate over various differences, including different ways of thinking.

“I don’t think there should any more debate (regarding the diversity), instead those diversity has become the things that united us in building and making Indonesia a strong nation,” explained Wempi.

He invited the young generations to be united in celebrating the Independence Day with various positive things. He said that previous Indonesian leaders have laid a strong foundation for the nation’s generation to be able to continue the develop Indonesia to be a strong country.

Apart from Wempi, the Ministry of Home Affairs echelon I officials who attended the ceremony also wore traditional clothes from various Indonesian cultures. The ceremony was also attended by employees of the Ministry of Home Affairs both offline and online.
