The Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) set fire to several government facilities in the housing area of the Intan Jaya Regional House of Representatives in Mambai Village, Intan Jaya Regency, Tuesday, August 16th, 2020. It is not yet known what facilities the group burned.
After the arson, there was a shootout between the joint security forces with the Armed Criminal Group.
Military Resort Command 173/PVB Brigadier General Taufan Gustoro said that initially they saw a thick smoke, and then they heard gunshots from the direction of Regional House of Representatives residential area of Intan Jaya in Mambai Village at 10.15 WIT.
The joint forces of Indonesian Army and Indonesian National Police personnel then scoured the locations to find out what had really happened.
“Then the forces involved in a shootout between the Armed Criminal Group. The shootout is just over this noon,” said Taufan.
According to the initial report, there was no victim in this incident. However, the personnel are implored to be on guard for any potential next wave of attack.
