The Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, is proud with the distribution of 10 Million of Indonesian Flag in Merauke District, South Papua Province, Friday (8/12). According to him, this the correct step in boosting the sense of nationalism and patriotism of Indonesians throughout the region. This movement hopefully could tighten the sense of unity in diversity of Indonesia.
He also adds that the positive impact of unity in Indonesia is increasingly felt, and can be seen from various diversity among our society. For example, the traditional dance of Papua, now not just being performed in Papua, but also being performed in another region such as Jakarta, Makassar, Surabaya, dan other regions. Other than Papuan traditional dance, rendang and Nasi Padang can also be found other than in West Sumatra, but can be found almost in all parts of Indonesia.
These riches of Indonesia culture is a huge asset for Indonesia. These riches has also been recognized by other nations. Therefore, the Ministry of Home Affairs invited the people to foster our potential and riches.
“This diversity must be fostered and should not be the cause of our division, but instead becomes the catalyst of our unity,” said the Minister of Home Affairs.
He explained that the distribution of 10 Million of Indonesian flag is part of initiation of the Ministry of Home Affairs through Directorate General of Politics and General Administration. Through this program, all regional government, private party, and other elements of society are expected to fly the Indonesian flag sky high to celebrate our 77th independence.
It was reported that the 10 million flag that have been distributed have been started to be installed in various places, and the Ministry fully support it.
“For this program, I chose the Eastern Part of Indonesia, and came directly to Merauke District. Tomorrow (8/13), the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, who also the indigenous people of Papua, Wempi Wetipo, will lead the event in Banda Aceh City. It shows that Papuans could also lead in Sumatera, while me myself as Sumatrans could lead an event in Papua,” adds Minister of Home Affairs.
He also said that the distribution of 10 millions of Indonesian flag will be held in East Java on Sunday (8/14).
