Three governmental offices in Dekai district have been burned down on Thursday, Friday (8/25/2023).
The three offices that have burned down are the Village Community Empowerment Agency, One Stop Service Agency, and Income Office Region.
“Currently, the personel of Yahukimo Police Investigation Division have stretched the police line around the location. However, until late evening, the investigation at the location have not been conducted,” says the spokesman of Papua Police, Grand Commissioner Ignatius Benny Prabowo.
The cause of the incident is still unknown according to police officials. Benny says the investigation is still underway.
“We will do our best in finding out the cause of this fire. The loss due to this fire is huge and we are still trying hard to avoid any similar incident in the future,” says Benny.
On August 6th 2023, Yahukimo Genereal Election Commision building was also burned down. The incident was reported by member of Yahukimo Police. When officials arrived at the location, the build already suffered major damage.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
