Two long boats carrying nine students were lost contact since Tuesday (2/7) from Sumapro to Timika, says Timika Rescue Team, Friday (2/10).
Head of Timika Rescue Team George Leo Mercy Randang says according to the report that they received on February 9th, 2023 from one of the parent of the student, Yosep, the two long boat have been lost since its departed on Tuesday (2/7).
The nine students initially about to go to school by long boats along with five others from Sumapro to Timika.
“After three hours, three long boats have made it to Poumako Timika port. However, the other two long boats, the one that carried nine students, have nowhere to be found,” says former head of Manokwari Rescue Team, Thursday (2/9).
“Regarding the search, Rescue team have coordinated with joint rescue team from Indonesian Military Force-Indonesian Police and people who lived around the beach to help our search process,” adds George in his official statement.
Rescue team revealed they have dispatched their rescue team along with one of the victims’ families to search along the areas that potentially have been crossed by the two long boat.
George also stated that rescue team will scour along coastal village which may have been the place where the two boat docked due to bad weather.
“Until now, joint rescue team is still continuing its effor to search the missing nine students,” George says in his conclusion.
