The Chairperson of The People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI) Bambang Soesatyo met with Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD at Menko Polhukam HQ, Jakarta, Tuesday (1/31).
On that meeting, MPR pushed three vital issues regarding the development in Papua.
“First, we from MPR push government to immediately took more firm and precise actions to normalize situations in Papua,” says Bambang after his meeting as shown in Menko Polhukam YT channel.
“Second, we push the government to immediately prepare roadmap for Papua Civil Servants (PNS) cadre such as the additions of Echelon I and Echelon II,” adds the man who famously known as Bamsoet.
This measure was taken to ensure that Papua PNS could immediately be placed in the New Autonomous Region.
Third, MPR asked the socialization regarding the regulations of the New Autonomous Region could continue to be carried out massively. More importantly about free education and health service for the people of Papua.
“Obviously this should be followed by the development of education and health infrastructures, plus the improvement of its HR there,” said Bamsoet.
“That’s what we discussed. Next we will break it down more in our next meeting and we will invite all parties who are related with the operations of Papua development,’ he said in his conclusion.
Meanwhile, Menko Polhukam Mahfud MD says the discussion with Bamsoet was more about how to develop Papua in the future after the release of Law (UU) Number 2 of 2021 concerning the Special Autonomy for Papua.
“What we talked about regarding short-term plan are government infrastructure preparations, the forming of the New Autonomous Region, and General Elections. Because the four New Autonomous Region must participate in 2024 General Elections along with the others,” says Mahfud.
Other than that, they also discussed about educational issue in Papua.
Mahfud says in the next two weeks he and MPR the topics of discussion will be prepared more deeply and comprehensively for Papua Development.
