Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) officially detained Papua Governor Lukas Enembe (LE) for the next 20 days for further investigation on bribery charges.
“For our investigation, our investigators have arrest LE for the first 20 days from January 11th, 2023, to January 30th, 2023 at KPK Detention Center,” said KPK Chiefperson Firli Bahuri in a press conference at Gatot Soebroto Hospital, Jakarta, Wednesday.
During the press con, KPK also brought LE to public, wearing a prisoner’s vest. He was accompanied by KPK officials while he’s sitting on wheelchair.
“Due to his health condition, he will be treated in Gatot Soebroto for awhile until his condition improve according to the doctors,” said Firli.
Regarding the chronology of LE’s arrest, Firli said that on Tuesday (1/10) around 12:30 WIT, his investigators got news that LE was in a restaurant at Jayapura City.
“The team immediately moved to arrest the suspect. This arrest was meant to hasten our investigation process,” explained Firli. According to the field reports, LE was not beeing cooperative during his arrest.
“After he got arrested, LE was moved to Papua Police Mobile Brigade HQ for initial search and after that we flew him to Jakarta,” he said.
To ensure his medical condition of LE, KPK brought him to Gatot Soebroto Hospital for a medical examination from the doctors accompanied by a team of investigators and doctors from KPK.
KPK have identified Lukas Enembe and Director of Tabi Bangun Papua (TBP) Rijatono Lakka (RL) as suspects in bribery and gratification related to the infrastructure project in Papua Province.
RL himself have been arrested by KPK and will be detained for the first 20 days from January 5th, 2023, to January 24th, 2023, at KPK detention center at KPK Merah Putih Building, Jakarta.
