A person died amidst the chaos in Sentani Airport, Jayapura after the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe was arrested by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday (1/10).

Head of Papua Police, Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri stated that they would investigate and asses the SOP carried out by personnel in the field. This measure is taken to find out whether the personnel is doing their job according to the law or not.

“Because there is a casualty, I have ordered Head of Division of Profession and Security and Director of General Criminal Investigation Unit to do an investigation to find out if our personnel have done their job in Sentani properly or not,” he said in an online conference press, Wednesday (1/11).

He ensured that he will give firm actions if there are violations in the field by his personnel.

“If they are doing it not in accordance with applied SOP, I will make sure that there will be a firm legal procedure,” he said.

Meanwhile, Papua Police Public Relations Chief, Grand Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo stated that there was a commotion in Sentani Airport when KPK was about to flown Lukas Enembe to Jakarta.

A group of people tried to force their way into Jayapura Airbase. Some masses who brought sharp weapons and bow also reportedly intimidated security forces in the airbase. Due to the threat from the mass, personnel did a warning shot, but officials said that the masses ignored it.

Police then fired another shot and caused a person died.

Other than in Sentani Airport, there is also a ruckus in Kotaraja Mobile Brigade HQ. Police have arrested 19 people who are allegedly involved in the two commotions.
