The academics of Cenderawasih University of Jayapura, Kurniawan Patma, says the government policy that abolished health restrictions have given a positive impact to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Papua.
Kurniawan, who is also a lecturer in Economy Faculty of Cenderawasih University, says that the abolishment of health restrictions definitely have rejuvenated MSMEs to work as it was and improve the wheel of economy in the region.
“With that, the circulation of money in Papua is also getting faster along with the recovery of the economic sector in society,” he said.
According to Patma, the pandemic have limited MSMEs to sell their products.
“Although they have improvised to digitalize their products during pandemic, the abolishment of health restrictions would still give a positive impact to MSMEs in giving them more time to sell their products,” says Kurniawan further.
Although he argued that Papuan MSMEs are still need to digitalize their products gradually, because it would become one of the alternatives in selling their products or services to the mass in this advanced era.
“If in the future there are another restrictions by the government, MSMEs could make use their advanced technology to sell their products,” argued Kurniawan.
He assessed that when the economy have returned to normal, community activity would definitely increased and the flow of money would be much faster, which eventually affects the wheel of economy in Papua.
The abolishment of health restrictions was issued by President Jokowi on Desember 30rd, 2022.
