Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri said he was proud with the performance of local artists who collaborated with composer Erwin Gutawa in the Tanah Papua Symphony concert at Istora Papua Bangkit.

“I appreciate Erwin Gutawa Orchestra and his team for organizing an extraordinary music concert. As a lover of art and culture, I feel proud because all Papuan artists can explore themselves on stage with one of the music maestros in the country,” said Mathius Fakhiri, in Jayapura, Sunday, August 29, 2022.

He hopes that through the music concert called Symphony of the Land of Papua, musicians from Papua in the future can be on par with musicians from other regions.

“Atleast on par or even more better than other artists throughout the country,” he said.

He explained that his party is pushing Papua to held a music concert every year.

“So it’s not just sports, but art and cultural events are also necessary to be held in Papua so that Papua can show that they can also perform in other sector,” he said again.

Chairman of the organizer, who also the CEO of PT Adhi Trengginas, Rafaeisal Fasih Fakhiri said that by presenting composer Erwin Gutawa, he made a new history in Papua and even in eastern Indonesia.

Moreover, he said, the concert featured a collaboration between a large orchestra and traditional music in Papua.

According to Fasih, this is something that Papuan cultural artists have been wanted for, a quality performance while at the same time elevating the value of Papua, so that people in Indonesia and even the world can know and recognize it.

“We are the eastern Indonesians who enjoyed the first sunrise, for that we don’t want to lose to other regions in Indonesia and to prove that Papua can also do it,” he also said.

The music concert of Symphony of the Land of Papua took place at Istora Papua Bangkit, Sentani, Jayapura Regency on Saturday (27/8).
