The data collection on the new villages in Arfak Mountains Regency has begun. This came after an audience of Deputy Regent of Arfak Mountains, Marianus Mandacan with the Vice Minister of Home Affairs Wempi Wetipo.

On that meeting, they discussed about the new 203 villages in Arfak Mountains Regency. The Governor of West Papua himself has issued a release of village code to the Directorate General of Village Development in Marc 10th, 2022.

Marianus stated that they will talk with Geospacial Information Agency (BIG)to discuss about the new village borders. This steps were taken to fulfill the requirement of establishing a village. Thus, the village arrangement by the Directorate General of Village Development will awaits the results of the coordination between the Arfak Mountains Regency and BIG.

The Director General of Village Development, Yushoharto Huntoyungo, stated that the proposal of establishing the new villages in Arfak Mountains Regency has been verified by the Directorate General of Village Development. Based on this steps, it is known that there are still insufficient requirements in the technical verification by BIG. This is based on the Letter of Head of Regional Boundary Mapping Number B-22.20/PBW-BIG/IGD.04.05/3/2022 dated 22 March 2022 regarding verification of the results of affirmation of village administrative boundaries in Arfak Mountains Regency.

“On that letter, it was stated that the verification of village administrative boundaries in Arfak Mountains Regency is still being processed by BIG,” said Yusharto.

The Vice Minister of Home Affairs implore the government of Arfak Mountains to validate the data population to fulfill the requirements needed.
