This is based on the calculation of the Papua Pegunungan General Election Commission (KPU) from four districts, namely Yahukimo Regency, Pegunungan Bintang, Central Mamberamo and Nduga.
From the recapitulation of the Papua Mountain Gubernatorial Election, the votes for Befa Yigibalom – Natan Pahabol from Yahukimo Regency were 169,304 votes, Bintang Mountains Regency 53,316 votes, Central Mamberamo Regency 18,316 votes, and Nduga Regency 43,751 votes. This pair is supported by several political parties, including the Perindo Party, NasDem, PKS, PSI, and PKN.
As of Monday, the plenary meeting of the Papua Mountains KPU to recapitulate the vote acquisition for the election of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua Pegunungan, recorded 559,471 voters in four districts had used their voting rights. The number of valid votes reached 559,443 votes, with only 28 invalid votes.
So Who is Befa Yigibalom and Natan Pahabol?
Born in Lanny Jaya, Papua on June 15, 1972, Befa Yigibalom is one of the politicians who is quite well-known in Papua. Befa Yigibalom was once trusted to serve two terms as Regent of Lanny Jaya, namely the 2011-2016 and 2017-2022 periods. In addition, Befa Yigibalom also served as chairman of the Sepegunungan Tengah Regents Association in 2018.
Befa Yigibalom has an educational background from Cenderawasih University, Jayapura. He is also a cadre of the NasDem Party and serves as Chairman of the Papua Pegunungan NasDem Party Regional Branch.
On the other hand, Natan Pahabol is a native of the Yali Tribe, born in Angguruk on May 27th, 1980. In his political career, Natan Pahabol is a member of the Papuan People’s Representative Council (DPRP) from the Gerindra Faction. As a cadre of the Gerindra Party, Natan Pahabol also serves as the Chairperson of the Papua Mountains Gerindra Party Regional Branch.
He has been trusted to serve in the House of Representatives from Papua for the 2014-2019 and 2019-2024 periods with the electoral districts of Bintang Mountains, Yahukimo and Yalimo Regencies which are now part of the Papua Mountains region. In the legislative body, Natan Pahabol is on Commission V which oversees people’s welfare and socio-culture.
He also often improves the quality of education, one of which is encouraging literacy, especially in the area he represents, the Yali Tribe through various literacy eradication programs.
