Head of Puncak Jaya Police, Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Kuswara says that members of Indonesian Military and Police force are conducting joint patrol to give the community peace and safety, Wednesday (4/5).
The joint patrol is carried out after shootings incident that killed a police and military member during Taraweh prayer at Ilu on March 25th, 2023.
“Because of the shootings by the rebels, two members of the security force, each from Indonesian Military and Indonesian National Police, died,” said Kuswara in Jayapura, Wednesday.
Other than conducting joint patrol, the joint forces also convey security messages to the community which were led by Head Ops of Puncak Jaya Police Police Commissioner Adjutant (I Made Sudarma) and Head Ops of Military Sector Command of 1714/PJ Captain Daniel Sine.
The joint patrol will routinely held by the security forces to provide peace and security for the people of Puncak Jaya Regency after shootings incident in Ilu.
“With these joint patrol, we hope we could suppress their movement,” said Kuswara.
The shootings by the rebels towards security forces were doen when the police and military are guarding the Taraweh prayer. On those shootings, the rebels managed to kill Second Police Brigadier Mesak Indey and Second Sergeant Risawar.
