Biak Numfor Medical Office, Papua, is waiting for the second booster Covid-19 vaccine from Papua Government. They stated that they are now preparing for their vaccination service while waiting the supplies.
Head of Disease Prevention Control (P2P) of Biak Numfor Medical Office Ruslan Epid, confirmed that they have already prepared all required medical facilities for second vaccine booster shots.
“For the facillities and the health workers, those have been prepared. For now, we are still waiting the supplies for the vaccine second booster,” said Ruslan.
Ruslan Epid says that the second booster vaccine are only for those who have been inoculated with the first booster in the last six months.
Ruslan says that the second booster vaccinations are meant to accelerate the vaccinations to achieve a stronger immune system for Covid-19.
The service of second booster vaccinations is also issued at the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control Letter Number HK.02.02/C/380/2023 concerning the 2nd Booster Dose of Covid-19 Vaccination for General Public which was stipulated on January 20, 2023.
Other than that, there is also Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 52 of 2022 Concerning the Prevention and Control of Covid-19 During the Transitional Period Towards Endemic.
According to vaccination records in Biak Numfor until January 2023, there are 94.08% or 70,481 people who have been vaccinated with the first dose, then there are 62.28% or 46,894 people who have been vaccinated with the second dose, and 24.14% or 18,176 people who have been inoculated with the first booster dose.
