The suspect of gun smuggler to Papua Armed Criminal Group, Anton Gobay, who was arrested by the Philippines authorities, was about to deliver the guns through sea according to the Philippines investigators.
“Team has returned from Philippines, from the initial investigation Anton Gobay indeed have tried to bought the guns to be sent to Papua through sea,” says Head of International Relations Division of Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Krishna Murti at Customs and Excise Office, East Java, Thursday (1/26).
Krishna says that Anton Gobay have been arrested thanks to a coordination between Indonesian and Philippines authorities. According to him, Gobay have bought 10 riffles and two short-barreled riffles.
“Currently he is in trial in Phillipines,” says Krishna. He adds that Anton Gobay have violated Phillipines law and his party will respect the legal process there.
Previously, the Head of Indonesian Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Agus Andrianto, says that his team will also track the funds of Anton Gobay used to buy the guns.
“Obviously we will track where he got the funds,” says Agus in Criminal Investigation Unit HQ, South Jakarta, Wednesday (1/25).
Anton Gobay reportedly have bought 10 M4 of 5.56 calliber for 50.000 Pesos, without the ammunition. He also bought two short barreled Ingram 9mm for 45.000 Pesos, without ammunition.
Anton Gobay strongly suspected of supporting a terrorist group known as Papua Armed Criminal Group. Gobay also known to be a pilot working in Philippines. Indonesian Police have coordinated with related bodies in Philippines to disclose the case.
Other than this case, Indonesian Police have also cooperated with Philippines Police on North Minahasa illegal gun smuggling.
