papuachronicle. co – Jayapura. Vice Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk together with Deputy Minister of Population and Family Development Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka inaugurated a clean water facility in Yanbra Village, Kemtuk Gresi District, Jayapura Regency, Papua, Monday (12/23/2024).

The activity initiated by the Commander of the XVII/Cenderawasih Military Command Major General Rudi Puruwito is part of an effort to increase access to clean water. This effort is expected to be able to help the community in dealing with health problems, especially stunting.

As is known, the existence of unclean water is believed to contribute to the spread of disease and infection in children. This then has an impact on disrupting children’s growth and development. The existence of activities to increase access to clean water is expected to be able to overcome this problem. Moreover, this step is in line with the Asta Cita program of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in overcoming the problem of stunting.

The event began with a traditional welcome led directly by the Head of Kemtuk Gresi District. Then continued with the presentation of the results of the TNI AD Manunggal Air program which became the basis for the construction of the clean water facility.

On that occasion, Deputy Minister of Population and Civil Registry/Deputy Head of BKKBN Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka said that the efforts made by Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih had a very important value in supporting the President’s Asta Cita. This is especially in the fourth point of Asta Cita, namely strengthening the development of human resources (HR).

“So that [the community] can have more access to clean water, and later stunting in this place can be reduced. Hopefully this collaboration can continue to be improved between all Ministries/Institutions,” he said, which was agreed by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk.

Meanwhile, in his remarks, Pangdam XVII/Cenderawasih Major General TNI Rudi Puruwito said that the TNI AD Manunggal Air program was an effort by his staff to support government programs, especially those related to handling stunting.

“With this program, we can be sure that the water we drink is 100 percent healthy,” said Pangdam.

The facilities that were inaugurated included the construction of a drilled well, 600 meters of piping, and a four-door MCK facility equipped with a high-quality water filter with a pH of 7.2. This inauguration was also combined with the distribution of basic food packages to the surrounding community as a form of social concern.
