papuachronicle.co – Timika. Two police personnel fell victim to a brutal attack by an unknown person or group in Lany Jaya.
The two police personnel are Tri Yudha Argadianto and Hidayat. The two were attacked by sharp weapons by an unknown person or group at 12.43 pm, Wednesday (12/11/2024).
In addition to the two personnel, a civilian named Bastam (43) was also attacked and suffered a gunshot wound.
“Suspect first attacked Tri Yudha when he was at a stall beside Bunda Shop,” confirmed The Head of Papua Regional Police Public Relations, Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, quoted from KoranPapua, Wednesday (12/11/2024).
After attacking Yudha, the suspect tried to snatch away the firearm of Tri Yudha, but was unsuccessful. He then attacked Hidayat who was also at the same location, and ran away right after.
Fortunately, another police personnel by the name Marthen was at the location and immediately treated his two friends.
“However, when the suspect was running away, he shot his gun at the shop three times and hit a civilian,” continued Benny.
Due to the incident, Hidayat suffered a slash wound on the back of his head, while Tri Yudha suffered a slash wound on the front of his head to his nose. On the other hand, Bastam was shot in the left abdomen through the back.
“The three victims have been evacuated to Wamena Hospital, Jayawijaya Regency to receive medical treatment.”
As of now, the case is being investigated by the Lanny Jaya Sub-regional Police and the suspect is being pursued by the police to uncover the motive behind the attack.
