The Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian officially appointed Ramses Limbong and Rudy Sufahriadi as the acting governor of Papua and South Papua, respectively. The appointment was announced at Sasana bhakti Praja Building of Home Affairs Ministry Office on Monday (8/5/2024).
The appointment was based on Presidential Decree Number 76/P of 2024 regarding Dismissal and Appointment of the Acting Governor. Ramses replaced Ridwan Rumasukun who will enter his retirement as the structural officials of the Papua Province State Civil Apparatus (ASN). Meanwhile, Rudy will replace Apolo Safanpo who resigned from the position of Acting Governor of South Papua to run for the 2024 Regional Head Election.
“We do not hinder the political rights to choose, or to be elected. However, there are regulations for State Civil Apparatus, Indonesian National Military, and Indonesian National Police, before the official candidate pair determination date on September 22nd. Before the date, they will have to resign from their position first,” said Minister Tito.
On the other hand, Minister Tito expressed his highest gratitude to Apolo Safanpo and Ridwan Rumasukun for their dedication. He believes that Ramses will be able to continue the government transition in Papua Province, as Ramses has an amazing track record in Papua.
Moreover, Minister Tito also believes that Rudy will do an amazing job in leading South Papua, as Rudy has long experience in leading.
“He has amazing leading experience as he was appointed as Police Chiefs several times. And Papua is not a foreign place for Rudy,” conclude Minister Tito.
