A group of people ransacked the Indonesian National Military (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (INP) cars in Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua Province following the execution of three Armed Criminal Group members by the defense force.

TNI reports there are six official cars that were burned by the masses in front of Mulia Hospital as part of their protest against the death of three Armed Criminal Group members.

The Regional Military Commander Lieutenant Colonel Candra Kurniawan confirms and details that the cause of the protest was due to provocation.

“When we were conducting a mediation in Mulia Hospital with Puncak Jaya Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, family members, and the people, there was a provocation by a group of people and provoked by the mass,” said Candra.

Candra assures that following the incident, the situation has now returned to normal as people begin to return to their daily activity.

Previously, TNI soldiers shot dead three members of the Armed Criminal Group led by Teranus Enambi in Karubate Village, Puncak Jaya Regency on Tuesday (7/16/2024) at 19.45 am. The three members were SW (33), YW (41), and DW (36).

Initially TNI members detected that a group of Armed Criminal Group members were in Karubate Village. When they were about to be arrested, they responded by shooting the security forces.

The two parties then involved in a gunfight, resulting the death of SW, YW, and DW.
