“It is true that in the meeting between Dewan Gereja Papua and Head of Papua Police Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri there will be a special team that will be deployed to negotiate in our effor t to rescue the New Zealander hostage,” says Benny accompanied by Yanuarius in Padang Bulan, Jayapura, Wednesday.
“We are worried with the hostage, therefore we will support the negotiation process and hoped that the hostage could be freed as soon as possible,” hoped Giay.
Meanwhile Yanuarius adds that it has become the concern of the church leaders as it involves the lives of a civilian.
The church leaders have met to discuss about the conflict that is currently happening and tried to help free the hostage that is being held by the Criminal Group.
Church leaders did not want any blood spilled in freeing the hostage.
“We want to put forward the humanist approach, to have a dialogue, so that there would be a brief pause of humanity between the security forces and the criminal group to stop the violance, including the gun battles, so that negotiations can be held,” said Jayapura Bishop.
