Criminal Investigation Unit of Puncak Jaya Police examine seven witnesses of rebel attack that killed two Indonesian security forces in Ilu, Puncak Jaya regencies, Central Papua province, Wednesday (3/29).

According to Head of Papua Police Public Relations, Grand Commissioner Ignatius Benny Prabowo, other than examining the witnesses, the police also investigate criminal locations.

Based on the examination, the rebels had shot four security members, although until now the perpetrator is still unidentified.

Meanwhile, on the criminal location, the police found 35 bullet pellets, brown wooden sheath, and other evidences. The investigation in the location was to found and gather all the information related to the shooting.

“The investigation ran smoothly and personnel have secured the evidence which have been moved to Puncak Jaya Police HQ for further investigation,” says Grand Commissioner Benny.

The shooting by the rebels occured on Saturday (3/25) to Indonesian security members near Al Amaliah Mosque during Taraweh prayer.

The rebels managed to shot four security members and two of them did not managed to survive which are Second Sergeant Risawar and Second Police Brigadier Mesar Indey. Risawar was shot in the back and his chin while Indey was shot in his stomach.

The two victims have been buried in their respective hometowns with Risawar in Sorong and Indey in Merauke.
