A ship reportedly has sunk after hit a huge log in Mamberamo River, Mamberamo Raya, Papua on Wednesday (2/1).
Head of Jayapura Search and Rescue Team Sunarto says that the information came from a local named Yunius Mirin.
“We got the report on Wednesday at 23:50, and just this morning we have dispatched our 13 personnel to the location. Tonight, Jayapura Rescue Team have arrived at the location, Muara Nawa, to ask several locals and related families of the victim for their search,” he says in written statement, Thursday (2/2).
Sunarto says the ship carries eight passengers who were about to cross the river from Muara Nawa to Wobri Village, Batani District.
In their search, rescue team have prepared a truck, two rescue vehicles and rescue team water gear.
“The trip from Jayapura to Batani District took about 10 hours,” says Sunarto.
