Papua Province government, through its Sports and Youth Department rent out ex-venue of PON XX for the community as part of the income for the venue itself.
The Acting Chief of Papua Sports and Youth Department, Terry Wanena in Jayapura says that there are some requirement that needs to be met before renting the venues.
“Venues can be rented, but you are required to sent permission letter to us Sports Department,” he said.
According to Terry, the fee and the security provided by the venue officials is still in accordance with the local government standards.
“As the fee for renting Cendrawasih Sports Arena would be 10 million IDR per day, where as Lukas Enembe Stadium would be IDR 100 million per day,” he says.
He then explained that the ex-venue of PON around Harapan Village needs around 23,4 billion IDR which includes the maintenance cost of the venue building is IDR 2 billion, IDR 8 billion for Field of Play maintenance, IDR 2 billion for equipment and infrastructure venue maintenance, and IDR 4 billion for electricity.
“For the sport venues that we will rent includes the Papua Bangkit Sport Venue, with a proper fee, considering not much of those who are considering to rent it for now,” he said.
He adds that this step was taken as part of Papua Provincial Government in wighing off the burden of venues maintenance.
