The Director General of Population and Civil Registration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, paid a visit to Asmat Regency in Papua to inaugurate a service program in providing documents and resident identities, such as recording and printing e-IDs, family cards, birth certificates, Child Identity Card, digital ID cards, and other documents needed by the community. The service, which was opened from 9 to 10 October 2022, also received high public attention and enthusiasm.

These services were in collaboration with the Population and Civil Registration Office of Asmat Regency in Indonesian Movement Aware of Population Administration (GISA), which is included with the Asmat Pokman Cultural Festival as an event to introduce and promote the art of the local community, Monday (10/10/2022).

The Asmat Festival was held at Yos Sudarso Agats Field and presents various entertainments, including dance and music performances, carving and weaving exhibitions, boat exhibitions, Asmat Boat Seminar, press conference, and Fashion Show with the theme of “Asmat in Nature”.

Zudan, accompanied by Asmat Regent Elisa Kambu, gave his short remarks while symbolically hand over e-ID cards, Digital ID cards, birth certificate, Child Identity Card, and Family Cards. “Today I am thrilled to see the progress of the Asmat Regency and to see the people here pouring in joy while processing their documents,” said Zudan in his brief speech.

Asmat Regent Elisa Kambu said that the Asmat Festival was an annual agenda of the government and the Catholic Church of the Agats Diocese since 1981, which was held every October, but had been on hiatus for two years due to the Covid19 pandemic.

The Asmat Pokman Festival itself is the official name of the Asmat Cultural Festival since 2019. Pokman in the Asmat language, said Elisa, contains the meaning where an art is an expression of the culture and identity of the Asmat people.

For two days, until Monday afternoon, the service managed to process 409 documents consisting of 24 biometric recordings of e-ID Cards, five Print Ready Record, printing 225 pieces of e-KTP, biometric search of seven applicants, biodata addition for 19 Indonesian citizens, printing 43 KK cards, printing 34 Child Identity Cards, serving six applicants who wants to move out, serving five applicants who wants to come in, printing 40 birth certificates and one marriage certificate.

These services are in line with the direction of the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, which aims to make the Population and Civil Registration continue to be pro-active in providing administrative services quickly and easily.
