papuachronicle.co – Sorong. Vice Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk continues to ensure the readiness of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections in the New Autonomous Region of Papua. One of the efforts was made by visiting the Province of Southwest Papua on Wednesday (11/20/2024).
In her statement to the media crew after leading an Internal Meeting with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum of Southwest Papua Province, Ribka admitted that in her assignment as the new vice minister, she was tasked to ensure that the 2024 Regional Head Election in the New Autonomous Regions runs smoothly. Therefore, Ribka continues to coordinate with election organizers such as the General Election Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), and the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP).
On the other hand, Ribka said, the West Papua Provincial Government continues to optimize preparations for the elections. In addition, related parties also continue to be involved in overseeing the implementation of the democratic party. The parties include the ranks of the military and police, including the Main Base of the Indonesian Navy (Lantamal) XIV Sorong.
Ribka said that the role of Lantamal XIV is needed because the distribution of areas in the West Papua Province is mostly separated by waters. With its role and function, the ranks of Lantamal XIV are believed to be able to help ensure the security of maritime transportation.
“So our discussion is more about preparations for the implementation of the D-day on November 27th, 2024,” she added.
On that occasion, Ribka hoped that all parties could support and make the election a success. The parties including community leaders, religious figures, women, and media crews are expected to be able to encourage the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada safely and peacefully.
