The Head of Papua Police, Inspector General of Police Mathius D Fakhiri, visits Merauke, South Papua Province. Mathius promised that he would strengthen the units at the city police level at the three new autonomous region of Papua.

The move was by adding more persnonnel, followed by forming South Papua Police, Central Papua Police, and Bintang Mountains Police.

“The city police strengthening will be our priority, we hope that in 2023, there will be more personnel,” said Inspector General Mathius at VIP room of Mopah Merauke Airport, Wednesday (1/18).

After adding more personnel, he will proposed the establishment of Provincial Police office in 2024, followed by the appointment of its officials. “So that the infrastructure development could be monitored by the police,” said Mathius.

Head of Papua Police Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri himself was on tour to Merauke, who have been chosen as the capital of South Papua Province.

He and his entourage arrived in Mopah Merauke Airport on Wednesday morning. Their arrival was welcomed directly by the Regional Secretary Assistant of South Papua Government, Agustinus Joko Guritno, Head of Merauke Police Chief AKBP Sandi Sultan, Head of Mappi Police AKBP Yustinus S Kadang, Head of Asmat Police AKBP Agus Hariadi.

While in Merauke, Fakhiri was in schedule to meet with several religious leaders in Nuru Mujahidin Mosque.
