The Armed Criminal Group have ambushed a convoy of 25 police members in Yapen Island, Papua. Police and the group have opened fire before the police finally decided to pull back.
The Head of Yapen Police, AKBP Herzoni Saragih says the ambush got a fierce response from the police, although the police decided to retreat.
“Our personnel fought back the ambush for a moment. But due to their position in the high ground and well blend in with the forest, we are forced to retreat,” said Herzone when confirmed by detik.com, Wednesday (12/14).
Herzoni says the police at the location had to retreat to save themselves from the hot irons. In their retreat, they are forced to left their three cars, due to the heat.
“We were ambushed and pull back to the high grounds,” says AKBP Herzoni.
The ambush has been reported to occur at Sobeba Intersection, North Yapen District, Yapen Island Regency at Tuesday (12/13) evening.
In the interview, Herzoni confirmed that three units of police cars were burned by the criminal group.
“It’s true, our cars, which include a truck, a strada, and a patrol car, have been burned by them,” he says when confirmed by detik.com, Wednesday (12/14).
