The Vice Minister of Home Affairs, John Wempi Wetipo asked the cooperation and colaboration in building a strong foundation for the administration of Southwest Papua Province. According to him, the cooperation is going to help the preparation of definitive governor for the government of Southwest Papua Province in 2024
He adds that the Ministry will also supervise those effort until the definitive government is implemented. Wempi explained that those steps would boost the spirit of many parties in preparing the inauguration of Southwest Papua Province.
“We assessed that building a strong foundation is far more important, while also preparing the general election that will be held in 2024,” said Wempi in a press conference at the Drs. Ec. L. Jitmau, MM Building, Sorong City, Monday (11/21).
He then continued that the team from the Ministry will monitor the government transition by laying a strong foundation, so that in year 2024, a well prepared governance can finally be handed over to the definitive government officials.
On that occassion, Wempi appreciated all parts of community for their high enthusiasm in welcoming the new Southwest Papua Province. He hoped that many parties, including the Acting Governor of West Papua and all regents in Southwest Papua will support the preparation for the inauguration of the new province.
“We expect (the Law on the Establishment of the Southwest Papua Province) to be passed more quickly. If the ball is passed, then it means the province and its governor is also been inaugurated,” he concluded.
