Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian inaugurated the three New Autonomous Regions (DOB) Papua. The three new provinces are South Papua Province, Central Papua Province, and Papua Mountains Province. The inauguration, which was carried out on behalf of the President, was carried out at the Plaza of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Central Jakarta, Friday (11/11/2022).
“Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. By the grace of God Almighty, today, on Friday 11 November 2022 in Jakarta, I, the Minister of Home Affairs, hereby inaugurate the Province of South Papua based on Law Number 14 of 2022, Province of Central Papua based on Law Number 15 of 2022, and Province of Papua Mountains based on Law Number 15 of 2022, Law Number 16 of 2022. May God Almighty be pleased and give blessings to all of us,” said the Minister of Home Affairs inaugurating the three provinces.
The inauguration of the three new autonomous regions was carried out after going through a long process, starting from conveying the aspirations of the Papuan people, to the legislative process in the Indonesian House of Representatives. The inauguration of the three new autonomous regions is also the culmination of the struggle for equitable development and improvement of community welfare of Papua.
“This is a good day for inaugurating the new provinces. I have been reminded by the Vice Minister that Friday is a good day, and in 11-11-2022, we have three new provinces,” continued Minister of Home Affairs in his remarks.
The inauguration was also marked by the beating of tifa and signing the inscriptions of three new provinces by the Minister of Home Affairs.
After inaugurating the three new autonomous regions in Papua, the event continued by inaugurating the Acting Governor who would lead the administration of the three new autonomous regions. The acting governor will lead three new autonomous regions until the election of a definitive governor in the 2024 Regional Head Election.
