Unknown gunner shot two construction workers of Community Health Centers in Julukoma Village, Beoga District, Puncak Regency, Tuesday (11/8), around 08:30 WIT.

Head of Public Relations of Papua Police, Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal confirmed the incident when meet at the Media Center Room of Papua Police Public Relations Unit.

He explained that at around 08:00 WIT said that the construction workers of Community Health Centers of Jambul Village, West Beoga, was about to go to work using three motorcycles. When they are passing the Julukoma Village, suddenly they got ambushed with gunfires.

“From the assault, two workers got shot and the other one managed to escape without any wounds. The victims, Wahyu (55) was shot dead after his stomach got hit by the hot iron, and Ilham (43) was wounded at his right shoulder,” said Commissioner Ahmad.

Hearing the news about the ambush, two teams of Cartenz Peace Ops Task Force immediately went to the location and evacuate the victims to the Beoga Community Health Centers.

At around 09:30 WIT, Wahyu and Ilham were evacuated by Smart Air plane from Beoga Airport to Mozes Kilangin Timika Airport.

“The two victims have been evacuated to Mimikia Hospital. Wahyu is still waiting for his family’s confirmation, while Ilham is receiving further medical treatment,” continued Commissioner Ahmad.

The Head of Papua Police Public Relations told that the joint security apparatus of police and the Indonesian Army is still pursuing the unknown gunman.

“The joint forces are still pursuing the perpetrator. After the incident, the situation in Beoga District is relatively safe and conducive, and joint personnel continue to intensify their guard and patrol,” he concluded.
