Joint forces of Indonesian Military Force (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (INP) have evacuated 15 construction workers that previously threatened by Armed Criminal Group of Egianus Kogoya in Paro District, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains.
The evacuation process was done by three helicopters from Mimika Regency, Central Papua.
“An evacuation 15 health centers construction workers in Paro District are carried out by joint forces of TNI-INP with three units of helicopter,” says Papua Police Head of Public Relations, Grand Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo in Mimika, Wednesday (2/8).
He says that some of the workers have been moved to Kenyam due to weather conditions. Benny says that the evacuation process will continue after the weather have calmed down.
He stressed that the construction workers were not being taken hostage, but being threatened by the Armed Criminal Group.
“They were threatened by the Armed Criminal Group because of their unclear identity which makes them suspicious on them and thought they are part of government intel. They are not being taken hostage,” said Grand Commissioner Ignatius.
