Recently, Papua has been distraught by an incident of the burning of Susi Air plane with the registration number of PK-BVY. After the plane got burned, it was reported that the pilot and the passangers had gone missing, reportedly were taken hostage by West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM).
There are a bit of confussion amid the situation as the Commander of Indonesian Military Force (TNI) states that the pilot and the others are not being taken hostage, but merely escaping and saving themselves.
“There was no hostage taking, they are just saving themselves,” says Commander Yudo when he was attending Leadership Meeting of TNI-Police at Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday (2/8).
Yudo Margono also refutes the claim that an armed criminal group was taking hostage. Moreover, Yudo says TNI-Police will evacuate the pilot and the crews as soon as possible.
“We will try our best to evacuate them today,” he said.
However, on another account, the Commander of the Regional Military Command of Cenderawasih Mayor General M. Saleh Mustafa said that the pilot and crews had been taken hostage by the Armed Criminal Group.
“(Pilot) has been taken by EK (Egianus Kogoya) group,” wrote Saleh in his written statement.
Meanwhile Head of Regional Military Command of Cenderawasih Public Relations, Colonel Herman Taryaman said the plane’s GPS was taken by the group to the deep jungle.
“The plane’s GPS allegedly was taken by separatist of Egianus Kogoyo to the deep jungle,” said Herman.
