Joint team and locals found a body washed away by Digoel River after a bridge collapsed, claimed to be the missing security officials, as the other two is still on search. Team find the body in Iwur District, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua Mountains, Tuesday (1/31) evening.
The body was found after the team previously had found Pratu Ferdian Dwi Sukma, a member of Indonesian Military Force.
“Around 15:19, we got an information from Arim Village that locals found a body,” says Papua Police Head of Public Relations, Grand Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, Jayapura, Tuesday.
Officials confirmed that the body had already passed away, and it is confirmed that it was the Second Police Brigadier Risman Rahman, member of Bintang Mountain City Police.
It was not easy to evacuate Risman as team had to carry the body by foot for about six hours from Iwur Post.
“There isn’t any high road from where we found the body to Iwur Police Post, so we had to carry the body by foot and it was far, about six hours from post. Then after, we could carry the body with car to Oksibil City, it took three hours,” says Ignatius.
Head of Bintang Mountains Police, Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Mohammad Dafi Bastomi says that the body of Risman have arrived at Oksibil on Wednesday (1/2) morning, around 09:15.
On Saturday (1/28) 12 security members crossed the bridge to go to Iwur district. Unable to hold the weight because 12 of them crossed the bridge at the same time, the bridge collapsed. A soldier of Indonesian Military Force and three police officers couldn’t survive the incident and washed away by the current.
As rescue team have already found two victims, search continues to search for the other two.
