Rescue team have found Second Police Brigadier Steven Warpar Randongkir who got washed away in Digoel River at Arim Village, Iwur District.
Head of Bintang Mountain Police, Police Grand Commissioner AdjutantMuhammad Dafi Bustomi says that the body was found in the river bank, far from where rescue team found Second Police Brigadier Risman Rahman the other day.
“They got seperated quite far and we found him stranded in the river bank,” he says.
The body have been evacuated to Bintang Mountain Police HQ and scheduled to be moved to Jayapura which then will be flown to Biak to be buried.
“The plan is to bury Randongkir in Biak,” says Bustomi.
Bustomi adds that during the evacuation, people of Iwur District are cooperative and helpful in assisting rescue team to search the missing victims who got drowned in the river.
The incident happened on Saturday (1/28) when security officials of Indonesian Military Force and Indonesian Police were about to visit District Iwur by crossing Digoel River. Unfortunately, the tree that used to tie the ropes of the bridge fell causing the bridge to collapse and washed away the four personnel.
After the incident, rescue team has found Pratu Ferdian on Sunday (1/29) and have already been buried in his hometown, Klaten, Central Java. While Second Police Brigadier Risman Rahman was found on Tuesday and had been moved to Timika to be buried there.
“Now, the search for First Police Brigadier Yohanes Matteus still continues,” says Dafi Bustomi.
