Rully Nere, The Legendary Football Player of Indonesia from Papua
Rully Rudolf Nere, or famously known as Rully Nere is a legendary football player from Indonesia who played in the 1980s.
The Papuans megastar who was born in Kampung Harapan, Papua, May 13th, 1957 has the amazing skill in dribbling the ball. He has the role of orchestrated the rhythm of the play, and he successfully brought Indonesian the first gold of SEA Games 1987 Jakarta.
Rully Nere admits that his talent was born from his home village, Kampung Harapan, a place where now the Lukas Enembe Stadium was erected.
In Kampung Harapan, every kids love to play football, even if the ball is not the proper ball. And from there, Rully Nere’s talent was born.
The hard work of Rully Nere in his youth made him able to be recruited by Persipura Jayapura. The road of Rully Nere in becoming the legendary football player is become much more apparent when he competes in Galatama competition.
Due to his magnificent play as the midfielder, Rully Nere then was summoned to play for Indonesia for the 1979 SEA Games, and successfully brought the team to be in the finals.
Rully’s masterful play in the midfield has made a huge impact for Indonesian Team. For that, he was immediately recruited by the Yanita Utama team.
With Yanita Utama, Rully Nere successfully brought his team to the Asian Club Cup, and this is one of the highest achievement for the Indonesian Football.
In his later days, Rully becomes the manager of Pro Titan Football Club. He was once a Director of PSSI Youth Development in 2003 – 2007. He also has coached PSPS Pekanbaru, Persiba Bantul, PS Palembang, and PSSI U-20
