papuachronicle.co – Jayapura. The Papua Regional Police shows its support for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program through a public kitchen managed by themself.
The program has begun by distributing healthy and nutritious food to thousands of school children in Jayapura City.
The Regional Supervision Inspector of Papua Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Jermias Rontini says that this program is still in the trial phase in North Jayapura District, with the number of beneficiaries reaching 3,518 school children from early childhood education to high school, both public and private.
“This program is still in the trial phase, so not all schools can be served simultaneously. However, gradually, the service will reach all beneficiaries in the Jayapura area,” said Jermias Rontini, Wednesday (9/10/2025).
To ensure food quality, the Papua Regional Police implement a monitoring procedure through a food security team involving personnel from the Medical and Health Division (Biddokkes) and Bhayangkara Hospital.
“We want to ensure that the food provided is truly healthy, nutritious, and safe. The food security team is tasked with ensuring that the food is fit for consumption and avoids the risk of food poisoning,” said Jermias.
The MBG program also has an impact on the community’s economic turnover. Most food ingredients, such as vegetables, eggs, and meat, are supplied by farmers and local businesses in Jayapura.
“By utilizing local products, we hope the benefits of this program will not only be felt by school children but will also make a positive contribution to the community’s economy,” he added.
