papuachronicle.co – Jayapura. The Papua Regional Police’s Special Crimes Directorate arrested four Chinese foreign nationals for illegal mining in Senggi, Jayapura Regency.

Apart from that, two other people were also arrested and currently the six people have been named as suspects in the illegal mining case.

The Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Papua Regional Police, Senior Superintendent I Gusti Gede Era Adhinata, in Jayapura, Tuesday (9/9/2025), said that the six people were named as suspects after investigators conducted an investigation and confiscated evidence at the Kali Pur crime scene, Senggi, Jayapura Regency, on August 26, 2025.

The suspects were charged under Article 158 in conjunction with Article 35 paragraph (3) letter a of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 3 of 2020 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining, with the threat of a maximum prison sentence of 5 years and a fine of up to IDR 100 billion and Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.

The four suspects are Chinese nationals, namely CL (46), a surveying machine technician who oversees production and trains Indonesian employees, and WCD (60), an electrical technician who is responsible for repairing damage at the location.

Meanwhile, CHT (40) is an intermediary who connects investors with AAM HN and CD (41) is an investor who is directly involved in the field.

The other two suspects, namely AAM HN (47/WNI), served as Director of PT Saveree Gading International Group and played a role in providing initial capital and infrastructure for mining, and LHS (46/WNI) was a translator and employee salary coordinator.

“From the suspect’s confession, it was revealed that the gold from the mining had been taken to China by one of the suspects, who is also a financier, namely CK,” said Era Adhinata.

As of now, the mining location has been barred by the police with police line since August 26.
