papuachronicle.co – Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto invited the Singaporean Government to be more actively involved in the transformation of Indonesia’s health system, including by expanding access to medical personnel education and improving the quality of health services.
The Head of State of Indonesia, in his statement at the Leaders’ Retreat, Parliament House, Singapore, Monday (6/16/2025), said that Singapore’s experience and excellence could be an important contribution in accelerating the development of the national health sector.
“In the health sector, I invite Singapore to be more active in participating in our health sector transformation efforts,” he said.
In front of Singaporean Prime Minister (PM) Lawrence Wong and a number of high-ranking officials from both countries, the President emphasized that one of his government’s priorities is to expand access to medical personnel education and improve the quality of national health services.
“I plan to build more medical and nursing colleges. This is a field where I believe Singapore’s experience can provide great benefits for us,” he said.
He also considered that the partnership with Singapore would be an opportunity for knowledge transfer, medical personnel training, and improvement of the health service system as a whole.
The transformation of the health sector is part of Indonesia’s major human development agenda, in line with the Free Health Check (CKG) program currently being run by the government to encourage early detection and prevention of chronic diseases.
To date, CKG has facilitated health screening for more than 8 million participants throughout Indonesia, in the last four months since the program started in February 2025.
