During his visit to Papua, Indonesian President Joko Widodo held a closed meeting with the security forces on Monday, March 20 2023, at the Cendrawasih Room, Swiss-belhotel Jayapura, Jayapura City to emphasize all ranks of security apparatus to take part in monitoring the government effort in improving the welfare of Papuans, Tuesday (3/21).
“He told us to work more integrated with the central and regional programs, so that we, the military and police force, could take part in overseeing the governmental policies which aims to improve the welfare of Papuans,” says the General of Indonesian National Police, Listyo Sigit Prabowo in his official statement after the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Admiral of Indonesian Military Force, Yudo Margono, convey the same points as the Indonesian Police Chief, saying that the military will continue to work together with the police force to realize a better and improved community, one of which is through law enforcement operations.
“The soldiers are in Papua to assist the Police in conducting law enforcement operations,” said the Admiral. He adds that the number of troops in Papua is still adequate to carry out security operations.
“There are no reinforcements and the operations are going well with the regional troops and those who came from outside Papua,” he said. Yudo then explains the security operations would be carried out in land and sea borders.
Turut hadir dalam rapat terbatas tersebut Menteri Pertahanan Prabowo Subianto, Menteri Investasi/Kepala BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia, Kepala Staf Kepresidenan Moeldoko, dan Kepala BIN Budi Gunawan.
In the meeting, there were seen Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia, Chief of Presidential Staff Moeldoko, and Head of State Intelligence Agency Budi Gunawan.
