Effort to improve the lives of Papuans continue to be carried out by Indonesian Government, one of which is from the Ministry of Social, who sends 30 sewing machine, Tuesday (3/1).

The Widyaiswara of Training Education Center official, Sri Tjahyorini in Biak, have said that the sewing machines were meant to provide Papuans chances to learn more about sewing.

“The ones who receive the machines would also received training from experts that we call from Surabaya,” she said. Sri adds that the sewing skills of Papuans could have become a legitimate profession that would help the local economy.

“I hope that you would take care of this sewing machine and I pray that it would help improve you and your family’s welfare,” hoped Sri.

The expert of sewing that government call from Surabaya, Teguh, double down the statement that sewings could help improve the economy of a family.

“I also taught them how the sewing machine operates in an expectation that they would take care of this machine in their own house,” says Teguh when interviewed by media crews.

Previously, the Staff Expert of the Minister of Social, Tommi Mano appreciated the willingness and enthusiasm of Papuans who welcomed government’s effort in improving welfares of Biak community through sewing.

“I hope with our aids in giving them a chance to learn how to sew, it would give an economical value for their family,” said Tommi Mano when visiting the sew training centre in Biak, Papua.

He saw firsthand the enthusiasm of Papuans in learning how to sew, and Sricommends them for it.
