The U-16 Indonesian National Football Team successfully become the champion of AFF U-16 after defeating Vietnam in the finals on Friday (8/12). The captain of the team, Muhammad Iqbal Dwijangge, has become one of the highlights in the remarkable run of the team becoming the champion.
His amazing performance made him become the Best Player of the tournament. He was said to have played a huge role in the match. He who became a central defender guarded the team’s defense well.
He becomes the starting 11 in every match of U-16 Bima Sakti. He seems to have been able to block the opponent’s attacks several times. His performance so far has made his team only conceded twice throughout the tournament.
This tournament is also his debut in the Indonesian National Football Team, and he immediately chosen as the captain of the team.
Iqbal is Papuan who was born in Sumedang, West Java. He was born on August 29, 2006.
He was once played in Bandung Pro United. Currently, he played for Bhayangkara FC U-16 and recruited as Elite Pro Academy U-16 in Mei 2022. Iqbal was called to Indonesian U-16 Bima Sakti. Later, he was among the top 30 players that will be played for AFF U-16 2020.
Besinah Haluk, Iqbal’s mother, admitted that she was proud with what her son achieved. She told that Iqbal has longed to be played as pro football player and played for Indonesia in international tournament. Besinah herself is a pro weightlifter.
Besinah said that Iqbal is not interested to follow her footstep as a pro weightlifter. “He really did love football since he was a kid. He always follows me when I am on my training but he was never interested in weighlifting. He was also once offered as Athletics, but he didn’t want it,” said Besinah on Friday Morning. “He always dreamed as football player since he was a kid and wanted to play in the National Team,” said Besinah reminiscing the past.
